Martha Madness

Ok folks, apparently I missed the boat on this one and a lot of the Martha Stewart craft projects I designed and assisted on have been in Walmart since July.  I had checked and checked online, but nothing kept popping up - and suddenly I saw an add with my fluffy little pom pom animals staring back at me.  I wish the photos were better so since I 'm not by a Walmart go check it out for me and tell me how they look.  I created a lot of the children and adult craft kits and then also assisted with crafting everything for the photoshoot.   Enjoy!

Halloween Crafts at Martha Stewart

  I was flipping through the November issue of Martha Stewart Living and I stumbled upon an advertisement for her Halloween crafts.  Staring back at me were some of the projects I helped create last year when I was freelancing there.  The chandelier and spiderwebs are glittered so you can imagine the kind of sparkly Rainbow Bright I looked like each night I took the subway home... Country Living

So, this is old news, but I had assisted the wickedly talented Mr. Paul Lowe of the Sweet Paul blog last year for this Country Living shoot and ended up having my modeling debut. Yep, that's me in the dress - I was quite excited when the article came out. I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did. You can see more of the photos from the shoot at Paul's blog. I'm done traveling for a bit and will post some pics from Montreal and Toronto soon!

New Tablecloth Pillow

I finally finished another tablecloth pillow! I don't remember if I have explained my work before, so here goes....In college I became interested in vintage tablecloths and found that they took to dying color really well (I was a fiber arts and theatre major). I orginially created the Obi style belts that you can view in my portfolio, but after graduation I created a pillow using the leftover dyed scraps, and now have a small collection brewing in my apartment. At this point my apartment doesn't need anymore pillows, but I keep making them in hopes of selling them in an etsy store someday. For this pillow I left some of the tablecloth material in its original state and added stitching to it instead. I like the idea that the materials I use are being recycled, are hand dyed and that the cotton fabric holds up so well. Hmmmm...we shall see.... for now this one will be carefully stored until it's time to open up shop : )

New Tableclothes

Some new vintage tableclothes that I purchased when I was in Door County, WI last weekend. They'll be turned into pillows or something fun down the road!

These are a few works in progress that will slowly be morphing into pillows like the ones you see above. They were created by using scraps I had leftover from other larger projects and couldn't bare to throw away the little pieces of fabric that I had hand dyed. Now I suddenly have lots of scraps and I want to continue to create more pillows and eventually sell them on Etsy. If you haven't heard of Etsy go and check it out - it's a place for people to buy and sell all things handmade! But, before my shop opens I am just going to be creating away and putting together the vintagey colors that speak to me.
